I just installed a blower in one of my systems to cool the 2 GTX 580s. They were running at 80C+. The blower moves more air, directs it much better and reduced my temps by at least 8C.

I gotta get more of these things!

Here is a link to the model I used http://www.amazon.com/Delta-BFB1012HH-DC12V-97x94x33mm-Brushless/dp/B000X45CAQ. I bought it on ebay for $10 with shipping.

It moves 33 cubic feet of air per min. and it really cooled my GTX 580s. I have them running at 953MHz now and plan to push them even higher.

The 3 pin connector is only about 6 inches long so you may need a 4 pin to 3 pin converter or some way to extend the cable. The blower is smaller than a 120mm fan so you can't really mount in with pre-drilled holes. I am using nylon security ties to hold it in place.

If someone knows of a blower that uses a 120mm housing, it would be great. We could use the pre-drilled holes in the cases and use some plastic to redirect air where we want it to go.

They are loud and I don't know if they support variable speeds. You would not want to sleep in the same room with this blower running.

I only know the 120*120mm from DELTA with are very loud too, but blow much much more than 33m3 per min ;)

They are normally called exhaust fans.

Most are fairly cheap but fairly useless. The better ones might be worth looking at.

I have used some in the past with positive results, usually to draw warm air away from the back of a GPU, but also in the bottom rear corner of the case (PSU at top) as this was a dead air zone.

Using them for exhaust is a good idea. I installed one to blow air between my 2 GTX 580s because the cards are right next to each other. This means one of the cards is starved for air on the fan and the temp was about 8C - 10C hotter than the other card. With the blower running, I can get enough air between the two cards that both of them run at about the same temp. This is great because I have now successfully overclocked both cards to 972MHz and I am going for 1,000MHz.

The blower moves lots of air and I am going to look into the 120mm versions.
